I remember when I was a child
I’d hear my parents argue
Because I was so very young
I didn’t know what to do
Sometimes I get so scared
I’d pray that I’d fall to sleep
Hoping that when I did awake
I wouldn’t hear a peep
I would lay there for a while
To listen to see what I could hear
No one ever had a clue
How much I was filled with fear
So it seemed that for now
It was quiet but then
I always knew just like before
That it could always start again

This poem is very deep, and says a lot. Many children go through the same ordeal, which leaves them emotionally detached. I hope that you only have to deal with the memories, and have no serious after affects. It takes a lot to share something like this. Thanks.
