A Dark Creature Poem by JJ Evendon

A Dark Creature

In my shadow of darkness
I wander a gloomy world.
There is light at the end of a long tunnel
but I cannot go there
I dare not go there.
For if I did, I would cease to exist
becoming instantly extinguished.
My place is here.
I see no one and no one sees me
hear cries like tortured animals.
Without this, life is all but dead.
But I am alive
I will survive
future beckons...
