A Day In School Poem by Amna Haleem

A Day In School

The noise of my classmates swirl around me
Their laughter, complaints and arguments
fly in and out of my brain
I can't concentrate on anything that they say
I just keep writing and writing my emotions away
I see the words I write appearing one after another in an endless stream
I smell the chalk dust in the air
floating around in from of me
It stuffs my nose and filters through my senses
I feel my friends pencil in between my fingers
Feel each led it contains
and its immeasurable power
