A Dilemma Poem by Garett Ryan

A Dilemma

To laugh is the risk of appearing a fool.
to weep is to risk appearing sentimental.
to reach out is to risk involvement.
to expose feelings is to risk rejection.
to place your dreams before a crowd is to risk ridicule.
to love is to risk not being loved in return.
so why do it?
for the sense of comfort no matter how brief it may be.
its a dilemma, to feel is to risk.
yet life would be less beautiful if we couldn't feel.
there would be no ups nor downs.
no warmth when you love, no love to give.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I was thinking about who I love, why I love them and the struggles I face/faced while loving them. True love is a beautiful mess, no matter what you do, that person is burned into your mind. like a match strike. quick and brief but it draws you in.
