A Dream. Poem by hina iqbal

A Dream.

As the drizzling rain showers the grass,
I am visited by a dream, for the reason that it has
These are the thoughts I sing but, spiked with with a spell of reality
In this world of mine, Love exists with the charm of immortality
It wraps around me singing my worries to sleep,
This is what the night offers me to keep,
Taking me into the beauty of my thoughts;
Away from the darkness of life with which i fought,
This sunless night that comes for me every day;
Drives me out insomnia, but why? it will never say.
This is my sweet escape from what I run,
Yet my heart holds a belief that enchanting days are yet to come,
I am haunted by a longing of peace,
But with patience I see what each one will teach,
It has approached me once again, hiding the rays behind a curtain of serene beauty which in no time it will erase,
For my disturbing memories do stay in me quite obnoxiously and these are the steps I would never retrace,
But when it comes over to me, it stays still and spreads silence;
I pay a salute for it has only taught of peace and stolen me from a world of bitterness and violence.
