A Faded Smile Poem by Alexander Foald

A Faded Smile

A faded smile unfurls upon that face
Roses blushing under the eyes which gaze
Upon the wondrous sparks from a far distance
That are shining down like pearls of the ocean

Like crossing a plain field of white snow
Her eyes are beautiful, yet they look hollow
Like a statue being made only to be admired
She’s standing out there, unaware of my rattling heart

She who has no name, she who only stares at the stars above
She whose eyes are naturally beautiful, she who knows nothing about love
In the glimpse of every second that passes us, it feels longer than forever
The night is quiet and cold, but somehow I don’t care anymore
