What is it to have a father's love?
For I have never experienced this before.
I know from friends' and acquaintances
What a father's love can be...a smile,
A guiding tour of pride and understanding.
A father's love can be like no other -
It can be a holding hand, a high five,
A quiet, knowing look of nurturing love.
For I have only known the abandonment
Of empty and unknown eyes, the disapproving
Look of a life living given from his seed.
For I have never known to be a 'daddy's girl' -
To be a twinkle in the eye of a father, only to
Be the burden of a father's heart,
And then not even that as it gives too
Much time on his child...he never wanted.
To understand a father's love, I must look
Into the eyes of a child who is so
Unconditionally loved, protected, and hugged.
I respect and praise the father who
Loves their child and shares a loving bond.
I am grateful to have seen what a
Father's love can actually be, although
I will never experience a father's love.
