A Friend

Have you been there
Did you feel the pain
The lost and the loneliness
Being part of the game
Of giving up on life
Closing your eye's
You thought
For the last time
As the poison flowed
Through your veins
Only to wake in the morning
Having people think
You're insane
Don't give me your pity
Just give me a true friend
The one who's proud
To stand with you
When there's nothing
To gain
But being a friend

O Love! thou makest all things even
In earth or heaven;
Finding thy way through prison-bars
Up to the stars;
Or, true to the Almighty plan,
That out of dust created man,
