A Gem Poem by DEEPAK KUMAR PATTANAYAK

A Gem

Rating: 5.0

A gem
- - - - - - - - - -
A thing of beauty;
A thing of curiosity
Lying still and quiet
Glowing with sunlight
Sparkling so bright
Upon the stream
Upon the ocean
Upon the sky
Upon the hill
Upon the wayside
Picked up and polished
Presented in pearls
Souls to wear and delight
Essence of souls’ life
Like nectar tasted once
Shuns the wine
I have been in love since
And felt her lips on mine
Only lucky ones amongst mankind
Can find, feel and enjoy it
Looks like a riddle
Oh no, she is poetry
A gem in sight
Wearing robes of immortality
Glittering so bright……………

A gem of a gem. You have taken in hand the simplest object & made it profound without the pitfall of invoking God like so many of the most inferior, mewling poets on this site do, I'm sorry for attacking them, but I love reading poetry, if it is good poetry. Bad poetry includes the bunch of little paunchy poets trying to sound profound & really being nothing but shepherds of offhanded remarks. Thank you very much.
