A Grandmother's Truth Poem by Linda Barnes

A Grandmother's Truth

My daughter thanked me
On Mother's Day week
For being her Mother
Giving my love, wisdom and strength

It brought me to tears
For I knew down deep
When I was her age
I questioned everything

For I was a young Mother
Just learning what I would need
To raise my children
Like my Mother before me

There is no compass
That will master all things
As giving to our child
Their hopes and dreams

I close my eyes and
Thank God for this
For I'm a Grandmother
Just a Mother's second chance
