'A heart so used
that for many, many years
has experienced
so much heart aches
partings and shedding of tears
the lost tender kisses
all so dear to me

a heart so used
that the many, many years
of beautiful moments
spent passionately together
the fond love, so sweet and fair
and silence in the garden air
all so precious to me

a heart so used
that when gone and free
all that will be left
beside the grave
are few wilted flowers
some dried leaves
and forgotten memories.'
