A Heart That Wouldn'T Quit Poem by E.A. England

A Heart That Wouldn'T Quit

there was a heart that wouldn’t quit
when she thought that she was done
when hate had taken over
and loneliness had won

when life had looked her in the eye
and kicked while she was down
a heart that had to carry her
that fought without a sound

that kept her sane, that dried the tears
that witnessed every night
she would lie awake and cry
and tunnels had no light

when all the doors were closing
and none were left ajar
a time when she had given up
on dreams set near and far

so believe me now, for you will see
when you have lost your grit
we all possess a saving grace:
a heart that will not quit
