Dear God your humble servant is down upon her knees
I hope you have some time tonight to read a note from me
I know we haven't talked much in such a long long time
But i've just got to talk to you about what's on my mind
It's just me, I am your child, lord, as unworthy as can be
But my momma on her sickbed whispered ' please just pray for me'
But because i'm not much good at prayer i'll take my pen in hand
And write down for you this message to help you understand
Well my mom is a good woman and she's led a godly life
She has labored in your fields Lord all the days of her long life
And she bore two godly children and taught them to be strong
And she's raised her voice in prayer lord when each eveing came along
In her time she's had great trouble, first her daughter went away
Then her husband you called home Lord while she was left to stay
And one by one she watched her friends go home to be with you
But yet she clung to life Lord for she still had work to do
Well now her years are many and although they have beenkind
Seems that sometimes lately she's had heaven on her mind
But Lord we need her badly, please don't take her love away
Her presence gives the joy Lord that we need to live each day
Without her life is empty, theres no music theres no song
No reason for the eveing , no reason for the dawn
For Lord she is the cornerstone on which we build our life
Her love she wraps around us and keeps us safe from strife
So, Lord please read this letter, it's a plea to let her stay
Because we love and need her God, in each and every way
I know that you can grant each wish, so please just let thiis be
God! Let my momma stay right here
Respectifully Just me
