Days were young ~ and so were we,
with hearts bared beneath the sun.
Thoughts shared long into the night,
on our pillow ~ dreams would run.
Hearts afire within life's flame,
so much living to be done.
A waltz along the primrose lane,
dreams were dreamed ~ and life was fun.
How rare the love that burned so bright.
How warm the memories made.
Upon the path that beckoned,
life's plan was gently laid.
A child, then two, then three ~ they came,
on angels' wings of gold.
Treasures found along life's path,
a family to behold.
Years they came ~ and years they left
their mark upon life's shore.
I could not love you any less.
Indeed, I loved much more.
I thought that there could never be,
nor ever thought to see ~
a day without our laughter,
shared with the family.
Alas, the twilight's calling,
resting now on timely shore ~
I realize our life has past,
and I couldn't love you more.
