A Light In My Life Poem by Sara Javed

A Light In My Life

'Tis true, I was cowardly back then,
Cowardly, arrogant and payed no heed to others command,
'Tis true, I could never face the harsh truth,
Thinking myself as steadfast and boisterous,
'Tis true, I was not a good Muslim,
Nor was I steadfast or true.
But you molded my hazardous personality,
Making me strong, confident and submissive to others orders,
Made me realize, I had to face the truth,
Realize the difference between goodwill and evil,
Turned me into a good Muslim, made me embrace Islam.
Now I am steadfast and true,
Just because of you my dear teacher-just because of you.
