A Little Piece Of Me Poem by Peter Edwards

A Little Piece Of Me

Revolutionaries gaining momA little piece of me

There's a little piece of me in every word I say
But the voice is still the same
Spoken from fresh perspectives
Using new techniques
And heartbeat rhythms
Words that will bind up wounded souls
Flow deep inside & make them whole
Give me a platform & let me try
Give me the microphone
And catch my eye
Let me stir your humanity
When you hear my cry
Let the wise lay down their vanity
Let us teeter on the edge
Of the cliff-face of insanity
Logic & knowledge
Step away from the present
Leap into the future
Catch hold of my words
Let your imagination take root
To form the inconceivable
Into permanent structures
Carefully constructed
By the phrases I utter
I found a fire
Burning on my breath
Stirring desire
For love to overcome death
There's a little piece of it in every word I speak
The fire of love
That seems like insanity
To make mountains move
And stir your humanity
