A Love Of One Kind Poem by Marama Kelly

Listen Up! I have a thought, I think I'll share with you
It is a thought, a view, a dream of why some love the same
In the word, the word of truth, in twos they were sent out
They were not sent as husband and wife for their purpose was to seed
Instead in twos the women went, and so too did the men
together joined by God's own strength to tell the goods news sent

Into the world they travelled out, two spirits bound as one
into the homes and into lives, these couples went in love
The love they had was pure and true a love sent down from God
a love to share with others met, a love filled with good news

So well they did to reach the lost, that bells went off in hell
So strategies were hatched and groomed
to destroy God's plan, tarnishing the messengers sent.
Whispers were made in the ears of men, distorted, disgusting, defiled
of how the two who looked the same did love the same as well
Obscene images were placed in men's minds
with the gestures made to confirm
And with distaste, they threw them out, beaten and stoned to death
Slaughtered, slain the chosen were, denounced, accused, beat down
into each other's arms they went, to find God's comfort there
But evil again did whisper more lies as he did with Eve on that day
by twisting a truth into a lie, proclaiming death to all

Now years have passed, and the same do love a love that is their own
For what God said was not of Him, now lives condoned by man
But God still loves and He still gives His mercy to all men
And with His grace, and the blood that was shed
atonement of sin can be made
for those who love the same are still created in God's image
while schemes that evil spreads around will end the shame displayed

And two who love the same can live with hearts so pure and true
while all that tarnishes the love that God gives
is removed, refined and renewed
And those who do not see the fault regardless of the truth
will live their lives bound by death, slaves to their lust for sin
For Jesus said to love all men, but do not love the sin
and when we know the difference in that, we'll stand as one and WIN
