A Love Song Still Sung Poem by mike ruthenbeck

A Love Song Still Sung

In all the time that I have been/

In this world, from shore to shore/

Through thick and thin, such wondrous kin/

As you leaves wanting little more/

Perhaps more time?But really, no…./

For it is without that makes time-with good/

Perhaps another place to go? /

Though our home is where we understood…./

What more do I want?Just perhaps a job/

Five days a week to pay for play/

And maybe be less of a slob/

You'd feel more pride in me each day to day./

But mostly now, my needs- for once- are met/

Ive never been in such a safely spot/

Your embrace in mine after each sunset/

Is my daily loving Rorschach ink blot/

I see in you myself, both good and bad/

I realize fondly what I never had/

I often seem to look quite sad/

When I think about good times we've had/

But only for realization of structure! /

We are but a framework for the other! /

A learning loving teaching instructor/

We are neither sister, brother, father, mother/

We are lovers! And in this I much delight! /

We are not static, deadened, without plight! /

We make our way through busy days and restless nights/

We love and try and quit and cry and understand and work and fight! /

It is not easy, nor would it benefit us if it were/

We would not gain an inch for smoother seas/

Of one thing I couldn't be more sure/

Our love will do us as it please/

And sometimes leave us on our knees, /

We may find ourselves locked in or out with neither keys/

And with all the world, and stress, and smoking trees/

Our love will do us as it please/

So deep in love am I that knowing/

About where any of this is or isn't going/

Misunderstanding oats and wheat are sowing/

Flooding fields and boats out rowing/

But always still, is my love growing! /

And in many ways I find it hard in showing, /

Like flounder set to hook, and rod a-bowing/

Am I to you, with heart a-glowing! /

Perhaps in rhymes I find it easiest/

To be sincere, and also cheesiest/

Like a donut bacon burger greasiest/

Like the inside of a the pie is creamiest/

My love, I learn you better every morning/

And I realize how much more there is to find! /

A dead cats curiosity adourning/

At 90, I will still be alive! /

If it please you baby, any time, any day/

Never mind me what you say/

I think and hear, and misunderstand/

But that is to my benefit! You are my promised land! /

It is always a pleasure to find something new/

And I feel like captain on treasure seeking crew/

For even when we have nothing but laundry to do/

I find myself falling more madly in love with you! /

You are a gem of a soul, you are my imagined perfection/

Complex and simple and grand with affection/

Yin-ing and yang-ing and black and white tones/

And beautiful orange lighthouses missing from home…/

I love you so much baby, I love you more than words will ever say

And I truly love you more with ever passing day.
