A Message To My Dead Mother Poem by Felicia Kekana

A Message To My Dead Mother

Dear mama
The world still hasn't noticed that you are missing, or that I'm missing you,
Because although you are gone the clock still ticks, and the sun still sets in your absence the moon still welcomes the night, the stars shine bright,
But not bright enough.

My prayers seem meaningless, because there's one less gift to thank God for, what do I ask God for? because the dead can't come back to life, what do I pray for because you still won't kiss me goodnight.

You said ask and you shall receive and I believed that, but when I prayed for her to come back you denied me that
You said the devil is a liar but in all honesty he's not the one who lied to me
Forgive me mama see I'm just angry, with the world, with the heavens with everybody but me

And yet the world still hasnt noticed that your away, or that you are away from me because the the rain still falls on cloudy days, the birds still sing, the sun still welcomes the day the music still plays away each day

I really wish I could forget you, but I don't want to
Because life goes on, and the dead stay quite
So peaceful, yet the thought so distracting
So painful, yet so amazing
So still, yet so moving
Your beauty is breath taking
