I've never fancied Mothers' Day;
in fact, I almost hate it.
I don't like all that lavish praise.
I never feel I rate it.
I've done the best I could, of course,
to be a super mother;
sometimes succeeded, often failed,
the same as any other.
So just forget the fancy cards,
the flowers, gifts, and wonders
and grant me hope my children will
forgive my many blunders.
What a wonderful poem to post on Mother's Day! I'm sure your children don't really have that many blunders to forgive! Congratulations for the placement of this poem in that contest and for the publication in the Panorama!
This poem took third place in the Utah State Poetry Society contest in 2010 and was published in Panorama (by UTSPS) Volume 29,2010.

What a great mother's day poem! You have brought a tear to my eye, thinking of my own mother!
