A Never Forgotten Love Poem by Ray Hansell

A Never Forgotten Love

She'll sing a lovely song
To anyone who'll listen
She does this all day long
Because it's her love she is missing

She said many years ago
She had a love so strong
No matter what happened
She always sang her songs

The love she shared with her husband
Bonded them for life
She said what she loved the most
Was just to be his wife

But one day he got very sick
He just could not recover
She told me through falling tears
She lost her best friend and lover

She told me that she always sang
Songs of love to him
She said that he would laugh at her
Every time she would begin

She said, that it didn't matter
Because it would never stop her
Once again she said she wishes
Things could be the way they were

I asked her why she still sings
I asked if her heart is still broken
She said there's nothing prettier
Than love words sung or spoken

She says that singing everyday
Brings back fond memories
That's all she has left of him
Along with his pictures she can see

She said she gave her love and life
To no one else but him
She said that her love
Still lives deep within
