A New Beginning Poem by Charles Aubrey

A New Beginning

I saw you in my dreams last night
My pillow wet with tears
I turned to hold you close to me
Then my heart filled up with fear

I rolled off the bed onto my knees
And prayed to god above
That he would bring you home to me
My life, my wife, my love

I prayed for many days and nights
I thought he hadn't heard
The favors that I ask of him
But, he didn't say a word

Then one morning the phone did ring
I hoped that it was you
It was, it was, Oh thank you lord
My life is now brand new

So now I lay me down to sleep
I pray the lord my wife to keep
And if I should die before I wake
My memories of her, that I may take

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
My wife had left me and I was in terrible pain. I wrote this when she came back to me. That was 30 years ago and we are still together.
