A Nurse Poem by Eugene Michaels

A Nurse

A nurse enters the examination room
and smiles evaporate dark clouds above
and attending shadows dismiss submerged sadness
and within this universe, she's five years free
and clear of the anti-matter worry
and of anything not supposed to be.

And what ailment might you be here for?
and for thin moments smiles abate the clouds
and the days crawl on and on like this forever
and another survivor disappears into this crowd.
