A Parting Shot Poem by Ogolla Enock

A Parting Shot

With love and friendship,
We have weaved our web of time
And made together our best encounter.
But when our parting time comes, I pray
we part with no regrets but with hope and love.

After all the heights we have attained, the battles
we've fought, and the victories we've won, let not our
parting be in vain. Hold unto the lessons of the years,
Forget not the Source, forsake not the cause,
and resort not to stagnation and regress.

But purpose it in your heart to pursue a path
of progress, to spread warmth and life wherever
you go, to exercise discretion in all you do
to be and give the best of yourself,
and more than anything, to love Jesus more.

I wish you a well-balanced success;
A life of significance with good health,
And peace. But above all things, I pray you
Gain favor in God's eyes, because whosoever
gains favor in God's eyes is blessed indeed.
And that's exactly what I want for you.

To you, with love.

With friends we meet in gladness, and swift the moments fly. Then comes the thought of sadness that we must say ‘Good-bye" - 946, E.W. Chapman
