A Perfect Illusion Poem by Sreeram Vasudevan

A Perfect Illusion

Rating: 5.0

Drenched in the deep sea,
of dreams oscillating between,
varied imagery and vivid charm,
I lay on my bed unperturbed, calm,
I m the warrior who broke the wall,
and stood for my Mother's altar's call,
When the foes made the journey miserable,
I was there, shatter their plan, aid their cull,
I was the honey bee, wandering around,
roses and petals, oval and round,
picking the nectar, making honey,
a selfless service, needing no money,
In the Utopia, where I m,
Everything perfect, no Mayhem,
Children well nourished,
played, sang and their lives cherished,
Fertile women, busy with their chores,
Working constructively, ne'er on bore,
Men worked for the better of their dwellings,
Household blooming with hard earned penny, savings,
Every sapling, in its full green, cherished,
Cleansed every quantum of air, as it breathed,
Happiness trickling from everything I see,
Freshness as ne'er seen before, a splendid breeze,
I enjoyed ever moment I m there,
splendor, humanity and gaiety everywhere,
Suddenly woken by a thud, I shivered,
Found again myself in the same pale state, shattered,
Deeply disturbed by my return, I was upset,
Prayed the almighty for a reset,
of the situation, that YOU create a perfect world, full of contention,
or cast an illusion,
I cant live with this dream,
bear the brunt of my mind's scream,
It is you, who can soothe the situation,
And help the mortals, attain salvation! ! !
