If death should come
and we are apart,
please, my love
take a piece of my heart.
Carry it along with you
wherever you may go,
into the ethers
so I will know
that my love is traveling
wherever you are
shinig inside you
like the brightest star.

You will feel its beat
and I will too.
It will keep me quiet
until I'm through.
The quiet will calm me
and keep me sane.
For that piece of my heart
need not remain.
I'd rather it be with you.
