I like a poem that hits you
Like a karate chop in the face
Short and sharp and straight and true
That knocks you out of place
I like a poem that’s short and sweet
That doesn’t waste punctuation
That doesn’t pause or skip a beat
And nails the situation
I like a poem that makes you think
What you wouldn’t have otherwise thought
That grabs you by the balls and speaks
What schools have never taught
But I like poems with layers of meaning
Rhetorical flourishes too
There are no rules in poetry, really
Whatever works for you
nice rational poem about poems, very well written............10+++
As a former holder of brown belt in the art...I would agree with you. Short, sharp chops are effective, but not to the face...an elbow or a kick is much more deadly. I prefer a gentler form these days. Going with the flow of Tai Chi gives my mind, body and soul's muse, all the inspiration it needs. smiling at you Tai,
