A Poem To My Lover On Our Wedding Day....As A Sign

…….as a Sign

I give you this ring and set you free,
You are not ‘mine' -
Who could ever enslave so rich-a-spirit?
That soars as high
As the bemusing Lark that takes us aback
When out we walk
And talk and talk
Or stoops so low and hugs the ground,
Holds on to life -
A wife?
You're just as much a husband
And I dig that.

I give you this ring and set you free
And draw the line and move on from here.
My dear, dear lover
And move on from here, who know where
And what we'll discover
When we get there and talk and talk?

Once I fell asleep from the tip of Cupid's bow
And if I should succumb again
And fail to prick myself awake:
Pin that Devil
Pin that Devil
Pin that Devil
And find me again.

I give you this ring as a sign of my commitment.
the one summer's total ensmittment
that has lasted a decade.
And I I give you this ring that we may age and
rage on,
And talk and talk
And not put one cage over,
any aspect of the life we have
that feeds
me
so
and I just
give
you
this
ring
as
a
sign………
