A Returned Migrant Poem by Francis Duggan

A Returned Migrant

He went to see life in the big World out there
Where many looked on him as the man from elsewhere
In the World out there so much for to see
But it turned out quite different than he thought it would be
You never miss home until you leave it he came to realize
But in hindsight as is said one does grow more wise
The yearn for adventure did die in him fast
He yearned for the company offamily and friends in days of the past
In his travels he has been a long way from home
And has seen some of the World's great Cities London, New York, Paris and Rome
Two years from his hometown seemed too long for him to be away
And now he is back there for the long stay
Of late he has met up with the love of his life
A beautiful local young woman is to become his wife.
