A Risky Stroll On Building Edges. Poem by Kim Dang

A Risky Stroll On Building Edges.

Gambling, walking arms spread on the edge of this building.
You'll snort scoffingly at my temerity, my hyperbole of nonchalant.
taking the chances with my 'all in', dealing everything whimsically, so lightly.

Light as the loose feather from some nearby pigeon that's floating by me
I'm teetering on quagmires,
The breeze that grazed my cheeks versus the brisk air that bites, see
from your point of view things are skewed slightly

My outstretched arms, my careful footsteps, they're all a ruse
I challenge you to be more observant, for my heart is racing
The rhythmic beat would deafen the both of us, I'm frightened
Caught up in this electrifying mix, for this moment, you're on this rooftop too
And without your reciprocation, my senses all five are sadly heightened.

What am I searching for as I glance at you,
past my windblown strands of hair?
A declaration to happen?
Haven't we stomped away our lascivious passion?
Resisting leaping to conclusions, I'm sorry for being obtuse and
only because things are suddenly murky, not one to beat around this bush.
I want you to be fair to me. I want things to be clear.

Don't let your limbs enable actions that would later have the need
to dole out those unconvincing 'I'm sorry's.
Don't be inconsistent
I'm daringly walking on the edge of this rooftop, braving falling.
But feel my body, I'm barely standing,
my wavering knees, I'm trembling.

I will be blind to your alibis, I will be deaf to your reasons why
As if you've abruptly let go of the hand you've been semi-holding.
I have no time to feel so indifferent, I've walked that path
that have made me broken.
Don't lose me over claims of your past warnings.
No matter how right you are, you know me.

Damn right you know me.
Don't make me second guess the intimacy that I've chosen
in association with you.
Don't make me second guess if I've been blessed or
I've been made a fool.
With my luck,
This gambling.
My 'all in'.
