A Sad Story Poem by Rudan A. Matiga

A Sad Story

</>The day I die; I'll not forget to bade goodbye.
My children! please don't cry, hold your tears,
Don't be sad while I'm away; an hour, a day, a year
And for all eternity. Sing a sad song not for me;
But let my spirit free!

Build no monument upon this unconscious humanity,
Obelisks are not for me but for the highbrows and the prouds.
Bury me in a simple plot and on the mound that covers me...
Let the green grasses grow to hide this mortal man away.
The sweetness of this earth that in the past I walked upon,
Let me lie my body down!

This is my tomb I rest in peace, I seek no kin I see no...
friend; The only place the coldness all around I feel.
It's not a scare... nor it's a thrill but it's the Truth
That everyone should not despair the thought of sadness dwell.
My spirit's free to tell some passers-by to stay awhile for me
Or tell a bird to sing a song not in a melancholy way but...
Rejoice! Rejoice! This is my world!

And inside my realm no lover's cry can hear its wail.
No minstrel's song ever be heard from morn till morn;
Beneath this earth I am asleep to dream once more
And if ever be for heaven's sake I'll rise again.
It is because to be with him and praise his Name,
To live and love again!
