A Search For God Poem by Joe Blow

A Search For God

I wonder in vain and search within
Seeking something that may be called truth
Something which may be hidden
Or perhaps obvious forsooth
.
There can only be subjectivity
In this world of appearance
Search with much proclivity
For His disappearance
.
In response one feels
To those whom claim “knowledge”
I for one prefer to peel
Back these layers of folly
.
And reveal that which is known
Or else admit ignorance
All this that was in past sown
By men so indignant
.
Changing and modifying over time
Tweaking which is obviously sludge
It may all seem very sublime
But it is all merely fudged
.
Since there is not proof
Don’t just sit and believe
For one can always question the Truth
There is nothing worse than a mind like a sieve
.
It could indeed be that there is something
Which is very much transendent
Faith however is literally nothing
But reason is something resplendent
.
I continue on my lifes journey
Forever seeking that which seems hidden
One must always spurn
That which is shriven
