A Simple Love Poem Poem by Jeremy David T. Garrett

A Simple Love Poem

A new day, a fresh new sun
I'm late for the bus, constantly on the run
But then I freeze, who is that i see
Who is that person that has this effect on me?
They don't see me, so I look from a distance
Then the bell rings, I'm late, I wince
I shake my head, get that vision from my head
But when i get to home room, I stop dead.
Here to, how convenient, how weird
You look me in the eye, and it is just as I feared
My stomach races to my throat, i can't talk
My knees are kinda wobbly, not even gonna try to walk
Day after day, week after week, I'm riding so many highs
every time I see you, I aint gonna lie, purely butterflies
And then one day, we stand face to face
I bite my lip, My heart aint even close to staying on pace
We talk, I manage to squeak out a couple replies
Again, what can I say, strictly just those butterflies.
But our talks become a little bit more, a little more complicated
As you hint to me.. and we discuss if we dated
When we date, i feel like I'll always win
The curve of your lips, the touch of your skin
And then i noticed, all those lovey dovey clips
Are nothing compared to the softness of your lips
I'd never have guessed, you were right on that fact
The world is no longer so bleak or so black
And I swear to God, my heartbeat had missed
When I felt the rush when we first kissed
