A Simple Reminder Poem by Leah Ellis

A Simple Reminder

I whistle a hollow tune.
Bitter to the taste but sweet in sound.
The clouds pass over leaving a sad grey sky behind.
The stars come out with their normal glow.
But on the inside I still feel sorrow.
For what reason, I am not quite certain.
But it is in the darkness I see;
All the beautiful creatures,
Beautiful voices,
And beautiful people I will never be.
But that is OK.
I may not be perfect.
I am rough at the edges.
But I am me!
And that is all I’ll ever need to be!

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I was having a very bad day to say the least when I wrote this poem a few months back. I was feeling rather worse about myself than usual and decided to write this as a reminder for not only me, but anyone when they are at a low point in life.
