A Simple Truth Poem by David Blake

A Simple Truth

Outside the realm of possibility a world
of light and hope awaits. Yet, cracks in
our dreams and beliefs threaten to
destroy our tomorrows. Feasting on the
fears of fools the evil pleasures of today
have stolen our moralities away. With
eyes closed, blind to the truth we march
on in search of words to comfort our
endless sorrow. No longer do the rains
fall, dry and unclean, our land now
refuses to heal. Sad songs now fill the
great halls of yesterday and
lamentations shroud the hearts of all
mankind. From this desperation and
madness a life apart from sin and horror
can be found in the court of the divine. If
our eyes we would merely open such joy
and peace we might again find
