A Sinking Old Ship! Poem by Dr John Celes

A Sinking Old Ship!

A ship, I kept afloat,
For longer than I could;
And took the blame for what
Ever faults, others did.

But now, a time has come;
The ship could capsize fast,
With concerned people dumb,
And problems same, as past.

Yet, God kept it adrift
For reasons unknown still,
By raining grace as gift
And making well, the ill.

The grace of God was there,
As long as I led it;
With stormy sea and air,
The ship sinks, bit by bit.

The ship is rusty, old;
A captain new now steers;
The hearts of crew is cold,
And filled with awe, and fears.

The sea looks turbulent;
The land is not in sight;
The extra time, God lent
Has not improved its plight.

In balance, hangs its fate;
Its problems are galore;
Just prayers can abate,
The sinking day in store!
