Light up the faces of the poor
With smiles and laughter, cheer and joy!
Enquire health of those that are ill;
Comfort them with consoling words!
Remember those who lose their lives
In accidents, making crackers;
Take care, avoiding noisy blasts,
That rupture ear-drums of those nigh!
Share foods and clothes with slum-dwellers;
Avoid all lavish spending please;
Give charity to deserving;
A billion people starve each day.
Let austerity enter homes;
Let peace prevail in neighborhood;
Let fire-works express the joy
Of sharing, loving brotherhood!
‘Wish you a happy Diwali! ’
