A Stanza For Life. Poem by D.A. Woods

A Stanza For Life.

The minute you're born, you're mature enough to die,
coming into this world, no wonder we cry,
not even seen the world yet before we open our eyes,
here is your life ribboned and without compromise.

You could grow up and become whatever you want to be,
become an artist, a poet, become a king or queen,
sliding down life's helter skelter seems a breeze,
before you know it, times gone and time to leave.

Life you've been cruel to each of us all,
what's the point of being here when you don't heed our calls,
our pledges daily ignored within earths ball,
we can't retreat, so here I stand and here I will fall.

You could've helped us, we're not the ones destroying your insides,
corporate pigs it's hell for you and for the rest of eternity daily fried,
ignoring us, destroying us, you made our Mother Earth cry,
and she's right, humans are the worst mammals, no wonder she's turned her back on us and said goodbye.

Billions of us could've got together and stopped the above,
We've got the numbers and could've took over with love,
no wars, no capitalism, no famines, it could've been all our treasure trove,
No wonder enough is enough.

There is nothing left but memories.
