[A stone falls to me] Poem by Dorothea Grünzweig

[A stone falls to me]

A STONE FALLS to me
called poem I
have many stones
encircle me and
don't know if they're
bolts that someday
beyond pleas or reason will
break in on me
and my skullblessings
don't know so far if

seeds will issue from their
body press into
the earth will germinate and
there provide the soaring
leaping barely visible
nakedeyed of
leaden feet up
from the icefield

how should I know

Translated from the German by Derk Wynand
