A Sunflower's Hubris Poem by Evan Lindeman

A Sunflower's Hubris

If but t'were vast enough, and as fine,
The world to you its pleasures may suffice-
But as it stands whilst thou art mine,
There is no celestial body to which I'd look twice,
For their luxuries do not to thou unswerving,
One infinity what thou dost requires.
Nor do their lands host any servant deserving.
To satisfy that which thou desires.
But if I had world enough, and time,
I would see to it your hunger fed.
And to the highest mountain I would climb,
To achieve that into which my very soul hast already bled:
Your contentedness merely, nothing more,
Yet not the universe entire has enough in store.
