A Teacher Of Song Poem by Edwina Reizer

A Teacher Of Song

Rating: 0.5

I tried to teach of good, not bad.
But some that I taught,
All they ever knew was bad.
Some came from families
Filled with caring.
Some had sad eyes
That stared back daring,
Daring me to break into what’s wrong,
Daring me to teach a happy song,

A song to fill their darkened day,
Music to soothe and take away
The ache they felt inside their soul.
As a teacher of song that was my role.
What’s in a song that has magic in it?
It can uplift your heart if just for a minute.
And if you have enough of these minutes
You can possibly believe
That when you grow up and think of them
Then maybe you can perceive
Of a life different from what you’ve known
For you know that it was sorrowfully wrong.
So I tried to help in my own way
As a teacher of song.
