A Tear

Today a single tear ran down my cheek.
There was a tear for every sad ending a book has ever had
A tear for every song that makes me glad.
A tear for the lonely one leaning on the street light.
And a tear for every country whose answer is to fight.
A tear for the old man who died the other day,
And a tear for every other girl who cried a tear today.
