A Tear Was Near Poem by Paul Warren

A Tear Was Near

I was thinking about life the another day
And how we are made to live it day to day
It seems that you don't want to be
The one who stands out from the pack you see

Don't be the best or nicest looking in the pack alone
So that predators see you first to make a target easily shown
Remember zebras are striped to blend together
Not to camouflage with nature forever

So if you want to live life comfortably through
Keep your stripes and blend into the crowd is what to do
But if you want to fight and stand out
Paint yourself red and dance loudly about.
