A Tearful Easter(Remembering The Easter Attack Victims In Sri Lanka)

Rating: 5.0

I woke up in the morning,
With my Lord on my mind,
It is his day of resurrection,
I need to go to Easter mass.

I dressed up in my brand new attire,
Filled with joy for the day,
It is a new easter morn,
A new day of hope.

I called out for my wife and my daughter,
The pillars of my life,
"We are ready", they said,
How lovely they looked today.

On our way to God's abode,
We laughed and rejoiced,
"Daddy, do I get an Easter bunny? ",
My angel gazed at me with her curious eyes.

As we reached the gates of the church,
I saw my friends and their lovely families,
How happy they looked today,
The spirit of Easter is indeed here.

As the choir sang, I heard,
A deafening blast and piercing cries,
People running hither and thither,
Limbs scattered everywhere.

As I lay in a pool of blood,
Of mine and others,
I tried in vain to scream,
To shout, "help us, please".

My wife and daughter lay motionless,
In a pool of scattered limbs and blood,
"Please, Lord! Let them survive", I cried,
But their eyes were shut forever.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the important topic of terrorism. No creed, no belief, no injustice, no prophet, no god, can justify these cowardly attack on innocent people. Your verse is outstanding.10+
