A Tell-Tale Of Lost Hearts Poem by Iman Sadikeen

A Tell-Tale Of Lost Hearts

Tell will I the story of love
of two hearts that favored
each other in unison alike.
Accept they will not
of its existence but hide.
The delicate one out of shyness
smothers her love
and waits,
for he should make his say.
for that be the natural way.

Alas the wait is eternal,
he does not say.
Greed had but whispered
onto his breast
'Wait!
'there could be better ones coming
your way'
'so haste not when you decide.'

Ages had passed
still he could not find, one
the better or equal of her.
Frustrated turns he back to claim
the spurned love of her.

Oh but she had died
of a broken heart!
And none had known its cause.
