A Three-Minute Silence (Fun Poem 80) Poem by David Harris

A Three-Minute Silence (Fun Poem 80)

I once bought a box filled
with old 45 vinyl singles
and buried there amongst them
was one simply called Three Minute Silence.
When I slipped on the record player
and between the hisses and the scratches
three-minute silence is all I got.
There was no music,
no voice raised to sing,
just nothing.
The other side had a tune
and it was so memorable
that I have forgotten what it was.
All I can remember
was the three-minute silence.
Peaceful and golden.
