Our hearts are caskets
Keep love, remembrance
Pain and pleasure as
Jewels, pearls and precious gems
Mementos of past relics of bygone
When rosy fingers wrote all in fragrance!
A door opens to secret treasures
A stormy stillness in the room appears
Blush in seashells from a Japanese pal
And a scarf with wistful wisterias
Some lavender dried in the dusty cell
Aspirations all ‘Gone with the Wind’
And disappeared in ‘Wuthering Heights’!
The fretful times little let me see
The buried cache of life
To take in the scent of days gone by
Now when I take a sigh
And burden of love and care
(That I've been dearly carrying)
Is a bit released, memoirs
In panorama unfold
Image after image falls in a cascade
Colours of love and Faith, priceless keepsakes!
Outside a nightingale sings
And oft a kite wails too
Break the silence of the years
And the hush of a misty noon
How memories bitter-sweet
Infect our minds with deep gloom!
Head to toe you decorated with diction, imagery.....frm note in fact you dived into the deep ocean to fetch corals and pearls and the beauty of underwater which we can't see..A Treasure Trove treasure available within us yet we don't know who is the owner..we need eyes to push back and see within /priceless keepsakes..Allah has given life and his colour but we put our own and and forget.....A beautiful poem rather a torch to see into the darkness
A beautiful write indeed Yasmeen! You have excellent hold over diction and the use of the poetic devices has been wondeful. Happy Independence Day too Ms Yasmeen that you are too celebrating across the border.
