A True Friend Poem by Jose Mathews Kannamplal

A True Friend

A True Friend
Oh! In this selfish world, to tightly hold,
Can we find a friend, faithful and bold
To be a comrade in your daily conflict
Lead, not to criticise and simply inflict

To whom I can confide, and has passed the test,
And proved to be faithful, true and the best!
Oh! Yes a loyal friend is so unique and rare,
He is like Emerald, just beyond compare.

They are like books of old, so good to read
True in heart and soul, who are ready to thread
The stony paths and thorny walks of solitary life,
Who wouldn't betray your confidence and strife,

Who will stand with you when things go wrong?
Lead this bruised read and strained soul and be strong
Wipe my tears, pat my shoulder, and scold not so long
Give me vision, hope, lift my spirit and sing a song,

A friend who want to know our highest desires, efforts,
Our toil, worries, sorrows, strife, struggle, and supports,
Who can see your tears and discern our secret fears?
Who will share our broken heart, burden and wears?
Crimson clouds can vanish; but never a day runs to an end
Without Help of the helpless, and some kindness from a friend.
