The Air is still on Malverns hill
I stand above the Cloud
Colwall and Welland hidden
By a whitened dampened cloud
I'm above 'The Chase inn' now
Away from Malvern town
The right side of the hill they say
You'll see why at sundown.
And in 'The Chase ' last orders
On this Trafalga day
They raise a glass to Nelson
Before their'r on their way
Dr Ron and Nigel, young Sam behind the bar
Toast the might of empire in a Kiplingesque review
And in Nigels mental keyboard
Elgar's Enigma's running through
Down at Colwall station
The Paddingtons on time
And in 'The Colwall Park Hotel'
Maria's drinking wine
She drinks so much of it these days
It drives away the fear
Of bitter, bitter loneliness
As cold death grows ever near
In love she wasn't fortunate
And chance was cruel its true
Although she had her moments, they are now a hazy view
Just like the shroud surrounding Malvern's ancient hill.
Lovely narrative poem, well articulated and nicely penned. Thanks for sharing. Please read my poem MANDELA - THE IMMORTAL ICON
Wonderful imagery in the poem and I was almost there reading your lines. Love will come, love will go But the hills will stay right on That future poets may over coffee mugs warm Look at the view and perhaps feel the ancient charm............. Sir, I welcome you to my page too.... and a very happy new year to you as well

I couldn't find the path That led up to Malvern Hill; So I looked online instead For poets yet unread. Within my Member Area, On the left side of my screen I clicked the row below - And your name appeared from Worcester, The city where I grew. But, alas, we probably won't meet, As the pond that lies between us Harbors water, not so sweet! So please forgive this poor intrusion, As I wish for you the best; But do help us see the path, that leads to Malvern Hill, So we all can get some rest!
