A Warm Summer Night Poem by Paul Warren

A Warm Summer Night

Rating: 5.0

A warm summer night
In a starry sky
No hint of a breeze to cool my face
I'm taking the air walking through
The road is straight heading to the coast
A clear sky where you can count the stars

The road is quiet and I can see no cars
Then in the distance I see a light
It must be a truck with bright lights
As I continue walking the light becomes clear
When all of a sudden it shot to the sky
With green glowing lights it went very high

The glowing green intensified
As a beam of light shot from the bottom
Of the craft as it slowly flew on
I tried to hide on the side of the road
As the light beam searched for me
Then the light remained stationary above me

Until as sudden as it had came on
The light switched off
And I couldn't see the object in the sky
I looked around and the ground seemed strange
It was puzzling to me as to what had occurred
When I looked at my watch it was two hours gone.
